We have all heard about the giant Sequoia's that grow mainly (or only?) in California. Some are even so big, you can drive a car through it (that is once it has fallen down). Needless to say they have a National Park named after these majestic trees!
I found a paragraph on Sequoia's truly fitting our circumstances. However, I have to say that I will definitely NOT describe our circumstances as "crisis" but rather as adventurous and we are truly grateful that we are allowed this chance of exploring new things and worlds.
That said, we recognize the fact that moving home, leaving country, family and friends aren't easy and that there will be trying times. Therefore, if any of you wonder how on earth we do it...the following is a fitting description of my point of view:
Taken from "The Ultimate Weight Loss Solution" - Dr Phil McGraw pg. 277
"I strongly believe that while crises can be trying and they can be terrible, they can ultimately strenghten us. There is a fitting analogy in the giant Sequoia, the tallest of all living trees.
Paradoxically, this majestic tree grows best when small wildfires periodically clear the forest, providing sunlight and soil nutrients to nourish the trees. Yes the fires may wound the trees deeply, but ultimately ensure their survival. Likewise, a crisis is not to our detriment, but to our development."

Growth - Ferrucci (1982)
"Growth is understanding what we have not yet been able to conceive; feeling what we have never felt before; doing what we have never done before. It is daring what we have never dared. It may not, therefore, necessarily be pleasurable. It obliges is to leave our comfort zone, to progress into the unknown, to face the tremendous inpact of the Self."
